Fun With Easy Chords

Five Foot Two Eyes Of Blue
(Has Anybody Seen My Girl)

"Could she, could she, could she coo!"

This classic tune from the Great American Songbook always brings a smile to people's faces! That's why I have never played a gig without including it in my performance. When they hear it, people seem to take on a sense of playfulness, bobbing their shoulders back and forth as the room fills with smiles. Well, we're going to take a close look at this favorite standard today.

This session was inspired by questions of private students and online members. Essentially, we acknowledge and demonstrate the fact that you don't have to have lots of experience to put yourself across in a professional, stylistic manner. We discuss:

* Making the most of a small range on the piano keyboard
* Displacing the melody to create more "flair" in your playing
* Using very simple chords in a rhythmic way that beginners can implement
* A couple of easy fills to connect sections of a tune
* How even beginners can feel confident while maintaining a playful attitude

The chords (triads) you'll be playing in this song are:
 C Major, E Major, A Major, D Major, and G Major
(D minor is optional)

These simple strategies can be applied to almost any favorite "upbeat" song. I look forward to having you join me. I truly hope you'll have as much fun with this one as I have!
