Walking Bass Lines #1 (An introduction to creating
walking left hand bass lines for beginners)
Let's
swing it!The ability to "walk that bass"
with the left hand has mystified many individuals, especially
beginners. Actually, a major reason for this is that the process of
creating these walking bass lines has never been broken down to
ridiculously simple steps for them. Well, that is what this series is
aimed at achieving. If you have never played a walking bass line before
and would like to start feeling confident doing so right from the
beginning, this video session was created for you! Step by step, we'll
have your left hand struttin' with an attitude!
In
this session, we:
* Create a walking
bass line within the context of the basic blues form
* Emphasize the importance of building a foundation of confidence from
the start
*
Focus on establishing the "momentum" necessary for creating these lines * Use simple ideas
to get that left hand moving

session is approximately 25 minutes in duration)
We will be
demonstrating these easy concepts within the context of the basic blues
form using three simple chords: C7, F7, and G7. We will use a few easy
scales in our demonstration but we will also see that we can approach
it in a much simpler way than that. Creating walking bass lines is a
lot of fun and really brings added dimension to your playing when
you're looking to "swing it" with pizzazz. You CAN do this!
